Design Team Member
Hi, my name is Michelle Baca. I'm a mother to a creative, active and very imaginative 4 year old, Rainee, and a step-mom (more friend than mom) to a 21 year old college student, Austin. I waited a long time for my sweet husband, Steve, and I'm blessed to have him in my life. We live in Southern California, where we have the most wonderful everyday weather. Up until recently I worked for the LA Times as a graphic designer. With this lay off came a new adventure, which I'm excited to say, I'm now a SAHM and every day I look forward to my new 'job'.
The first scrapbook I remember doing, was in 5th grade. Over the years I've continued collecting everyday memories and would scrapbook when I could. But I truly became a scrap-addict when I was pregnant with my daughter. Now, I scrapbook with my daughter practically every day. I love it when she says... "Mommy, can we go up to the scrapbook room". Scrapbooking has become a wonderful place to put memories down on pages, but also a time to make them with Rainee. For the last several months Rainee and I have been doing scrapbook videos on YouTube - it's been such a blast doing them with her, they've helped me to be more creative and to challenge myself. I also meet once a month with friends to share our lives and to of course scrapbook.
As a graphic designer, I love putting thing together... it's like a puzzle. Taking a memory or a silly phrase my daughter has said, a color, a season, or photo and making the subject shine on my scrapbook pages... making it more than a memory... making it something for always. I love photographing everything... In college my art professor always encouraged us to carry our camera everywhere, because you never know when you'll get the perfect shot. So, I literally carry my camera with me everywhere, and when my husband has to carry my purse, he's shocked at how heavy it is... and I remind him why... I don't want to miss one perfect moment, because they will never come again.
Everyday moments are why I love scrapbooking... they remind me what it's like to be a child again, to play, to laugh and to enjoy every second. For me, everyday moments are the ones which hold the unforgettable memories, the ones I want to be remembered on my scrapbook pages.
I'm fairly new to Crop Addict, so I feel honored, excited and very lucky to be apart of the Crop Addict Design Team. I'm looking forward to sharing my pages and my everyday life with you.
