Debbie is not on the Design Team, leaving a spot is available for other designers.
Hi!
My name is Debbie Schroeder and I'm the "face" of Crop Addict (see our logo). I live in northern San Diego, California with my husband and two boys.
Crop Addict is a labor of love for me. I began scrapbooking in 1998. I was strictly an 8 1/2 x 11 single page scrapper while the scrapping world was double paged 12x12 with very little single pages and 8 1/2 x 11 pages being created. I was always behind in class, trying to measure and cut my pages down to fit. Couple that with my type A tendencies and need to have things perfect, making sure that my photos mats were precisly cut and that there was the exact same amount of cardstock on each sides of every photo, I got very far behind even though I had only started scrapping.
Fast forward to 2005 when I joined the world of 12x12 pages and have been alternating, 12x12 and 8 1/2 x 11 pages ever since. I also embraced the idea that "scrapping is not perfect" and that I could leave my ruler behind. While I'm still behind, I've made a serious dent in photo boxes and getting pages done. Because isn't that what scrapping's about? Getting our pages done? :)
How Crop Addict got started:
I don't have one of those "I started my store because I couldn't get scrapbook supplies in my area" or "I wanted to sell scrapbook
supplies for less" stories. My story is a little bit more complicated. Settle yourself in for a long story....In 1998 I was working
as a paramedic with the fire department and completing a college program in travel services. After a few years having left the fire
department after my oldest son was born and having opened my own travel agency (can you see the type A tendencies? :) I combined
my love of travel with scrapbooking and developed scrapbook cruises in 2001.
In 2004 one of our scrapbook cruises sailed during the same time as one of the scrapbook trade shows. As a result, none of the vendors could come nor the scrapbook stores. I had to quickly find a smaller scrapbook store to come on the cruise to sell scrapbook supplies. Realizing that this could happen again I took the plunge and got a retailer license to sell scrapbook supplies.
Since I would be buying for the scrapbook cruises, I decided to buy more supplies and have a store. A store needs a design team so I hired a design team. The design team would design with the scrapbook supplies I put together aka kits. Since I was putting together kits for the design team, I decided to selling those kits. And long story short, Crop Addict was born, store, kits and all.
I love our community here at Crop Addict and hope you'll become part of the family!
